When my mother spotted this first, she thought it was a dried up leaf or flower that was hanging on one of our plants... until it moved. Upon closer inspection, I realised it's a praying mantis of sorts...and it was hanging upside down! Google sir said it's a Dead Leaf Mantis or Dry Leaf Mantis -- for obvious reasons. Amazing wonders of Mother Nature I tell ya!

Arikadukka (in Malayalam) is spicy stuffed mussels, most commonly eaten as an evening snack, especially popular in North Kerala. It involves steaming rice dough stuffed inside fresh mussels. Once steamed, the dough is scooped out with the flesh of the mussels intact. Then marinated in a chilli-spice mix before being shallow fried. Location: Payyambalam Beach, Kannur, in the state of Kerala in South 🇮🇳 -- there are many such stalls by the beach.

Located in Nandyala district of Andhra Pradesh, Belum Caves are the second largest cave system in India. Situated around 300kms from both Bengaluru and Hyderabad, a trip to Belum Caves makes for a nice weekend getaway, especially when combined with a stop over at Gandikota, another impressive but lesser known attraction of South India.

Known to locals for over a century, Belum Caves were only popularised after a team of German speleologists headed by H. Daniel Gebauer conducted a detailed exploration of the caves in the early 1980s. Now managed by Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, only 1.5 kms of the 3.5kms+ length, is open to visitors. Inside the caves are sections with stalactites and narrow pathways which make you feel like you're in a movie exploring hidden gems!

And yes, that’s me and my buddies @rameshonline @anandgp071 (@javeedl was supposed to join) in the end pretending to medicate inside the caves, even though we were sweating like anything and short of breath as many sections of the caves aren’t as well ventilated by air vents as you think!
