Obama lands in Mumbai

He didn’t hit the tarmac, but Pres. Obama still managed to sign deals worth $10 billion… and Michelle Obama managed to make a fool of herself.

A Phuket trip months in the works, largely ruined A Phuket trip months in the works, largely ruined by me falling sick days before the trip... with the only consolation being a few days I got to spend in Bangkok where I got to experience @japanexpothailand 2026. Even that was a half-baked experience because I wasn't aware it was happening until day 2 -- AFTER I missed @oneoreight_ and @goldenbomber_official 's Sho Kiryuin 😕

Oh well, at least I got to see @avantgardey_ @say_la_3000, JOY, @bnk48 and two EXILE TRIBE boy groups -- @kid_phenomenon and @lil_league_official . I just wished I could have planned better and captured some of the awesome cosplay! I hope I can get to cover next year's edition properly!

This is the area I grew up in. Where my family did most of our shopping. Where I passed time when I was bored at home. New blog post up on mithunonthe.net (link in bio)

Ahh, I finally get to work on my trip to Bahrain ( Ahh, I finally get to work on my trip to Bahrain (after 23 years!). Post one is just admiration of new fancy airports. BLR Terminal 2 is hands down the most beautiful airport I have ever seen! Not that Abu Dhabi's new Zayed International Airport was any less impressive. For good reason. 3.3 kilometres long and a perfect place to watch sunrises, sunsets...and people. Police presence is required to prevent idiots from swimming in the Arabian Sea (and trashing the place). As crowded as it gets, I really loved walking down and taking in the sights. Got to ride across the Bandra Worli Sea Link, which gives you a nice view of Mumbai's skyline. Walked up to the viewpoint on Malabar Hill...and observed stray dogs relaxing in the Hanging Gardens. I appreciate good architecture and love skyscraper I appreciate good architecture and love skyscraper-gazing. Mumbai has the tallest buildings in India, but one can't help but notice the stark contrast of shiny new steel & glass towers overlooking dilapidated low rise buildings desperate for a makeover. Also, I don't know who 'Bhai Company' is.

Elephanta Caves are located 45 minutes by ferry fr Elephanta Caves are located 45 minutes by ferry from the Gateway of India, on Gharapuri...which is now known as Elephanta Island in English. A major attraction on the Mumbai tourism trail, I can see why the caves are popular. 1400 year old stone sculptures, many of which are manifestations of Lord Shiva, adorn the walls of the caves. Some in better condition than some others.

And yes, you get to feed seagulls on the boat ride to & from the island. I'm glad I visited early in the morning before it became crowded. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Mumbai!

I had to squat away mosquitoes while I waited for the sun to disappear behind the hills. This was back in 2011. And it wasn't until recently I realized i never made a timelapse video out of it. Well, here it is.
