ASUS Indiblogger Meet in Bangalore — The first of 2015

Date: 30th January 2015

The first Indiblogger meet of 2015 was held right here in namma Bengaluru! It was sponsored by ASUS, who were promoting two of their their latest offerings — the ASUS All-In-One PC ET2040, and the latest model in their long-running netbook series, the ASUS Eeebook x205TA.

The venue was ITC Gardenia hotel, which is also played host to the Nokia Indiblogger Meet in 2012.

The event kicked off in typical Indiblogger fashion. Anup was MCing as usual, got us all warmed and a few bloggers then introduced themselves.

After that, Mr. David Chu from ASUS (Product Manager for India) came on stage to talk about the two devices.

We had a Q & A session where I got to ask Mr. Chu (plug: A-Pink song!) why the All-In-One PC didn’t include a touchscreen. He said that the ET2040 is an entry level model, and one of the places where this machine could be kept is in the kitchen. So if say, you were cooking and had recipes or YouTube videos playing, your messy hands would dirty the screen — which is why they incorporated gesture controls instead.

After the Q & A session, we were encouraged to get some hands-on time with two devices. Everyone wanted to check out the All-In-One PC way more than the Eeebook. Understandably so, since everyone was curious to try out the gesture control.

As much as a I like compact notebooks, I guess I was more impressed by the All-In-One PC. The lack of touchscreen is still a bummer in my opinion, but I was impressed by its specifications and just how many connectivity ports it had, all packed into what is essentially a fat LCD monitor.

After that, there was another round of games before the Indiblogger team realized it was getting late and we all needed to have dinner.

The buffet dinner was sumptuous

I got to chat with other bloggers, namely Tanima of Housedelic.com and Cezan Koby (not her real name I believe) among others. Tanima, it turns out, stumbled on my blog when she was researching for her Philippines trip and thanked me for how much it helped her plan their trip. I love hearing stories like this! 🙂 Once again Mithun helps promote Philippines tourism.

We said our goodbyes and left ITC Gardenia at around 10:30pm. A big thanks to ASUS for sponsoring the meet and the team at Indiblogger for another successful (& fun) gathering. Wonder what they will cook up next for the rest of 2015!
