Date: 27 October 2019
I was continuing my sightseeing around Ho Chi Minh City after stopping by the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica and Ho Chi Minh City Central Post Office. Right beside the Post Office building is Ho Chi Minh City’s Book Street (Đường sách Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh).
I followed the directions in Google Maps to find my way to the Opera House.
Called Opėra de Saigon in French, it was first built in 1897. The Opera House accommodates 500 seats and was used as the home of the Lower House assembly of South Vietnam after 1956. It was restored as a theatre again in 1975 and later renovated in 1995.
There wasn’t much to do around the Opera House so I continued my walk around the city. More in the next post!
