Date: 27 October 2019
I began my day checking out the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica and Ho Chi Minh City Central Post Office, then post lunch, the nearby Book Street and Opera House. I continued my walk around the city.
Saigon river is a crucial trade route for south Vietnam’s industrial belt and the main water source Ho Chi Minh City. It’s location and views also make it a prime land bank for real estate development.
There’s another skyscraper proposed to be built at Empire city and its design is very interesting!
Nguyen Hue street is a pedestrian-only promenade that is now one of the largest public open spaces in the city. Flanked by old colonial style buildings and modern constructions on either side. This article has photos that show what it used to look like before its current shape and form.
I set up my camera to shoot a bunch of timelapse sequences from Nguyen Hue, which you can see in the video at the end of this post.
Vietnam does have high taxes, so that’s probably why. Even electronics cost much more in Vietnam than in India.
After much walking around today, I felt I had seen enough and took a Grab taxi back to my hotel. I had to wake up early tomorrow to catch a bus to the coastal town of Mui Ne. For now, I would have to bid adieu to Ho Chi Minh City.
Check out my vlog from this day:
